IWRC's Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation course is coming to Kingston, Rhode Island on October 11 & 12, 2008!

 
Lecture topics include an introduction to wildlife rehabilitation, basic anatomy and physiology, calculating drug dosages, handling and physical restraint, thermoregulation, stress, basic shock cycle, initial care, physical examination, wildlife nutrition and associated diseases, standards for housing of wildlife, zoonoses (diseases common to man and animals), raptor neonatal care, euthanasia criteria, rehabilitation techniques for conditioning birds for successful release, and release criteria. 
 
Pre-registration is required. Interested parties should contact IWRC by September 19 in order to attend this course. You may register for this course online at www.iwrc-online.org or by phone, fax, or mail.

What?   REMAINE WILD  -  FALL SOUTHERN MEETING
Where?  Maine Wildlife Park – Gray, Maine (see back for directions)
When?   Saturday – November 8th, 2008   (10:00 – Noon)
Who?     Wildlife rehabilitators and anyone else interested in helping!
Why?
     Rally support for ReMaine Wild, discuss the recent poll results, network with other rehabilitators and professionals, share supplies, yummy refreshments and more!


From the Maine Turnpike:  Exit 63 (formerly 11), turn left on to Route 115 and drive 1/5th mile across overpass and take a right on to Route 26A. Travel 3.4 miles and the Maine Wildlife Park will be on your right.  Pass Wildlife Park entrance and go about ¼ mile further. Pass Smokey the Bear sign, then turn right at Region A Headquarters (Big Gray Barn) - (Horse barn on left is too far).
Drive to end of parking lot (pass forest service lot) and turn right onto dirt road that goes behind the wildlife park. Continue on main dirt road until you come to gate (that will be open). Continue into park on main road (drive slowly, please ) until you see big white farmhouse. This is the meeting spot! Call if you get lost (207) 504-3023.

From the Sebago Lakes Region:  From Route 302 in North Windham, follow Route 115 to Gray. Take a left on to Route 26A immediately before the overpass for the Maine Turnpike. Travel 3.4 miles and the Maine Wildlife Park will be on your right.

From the North on Route 26: Region A HQ entrance is ¼ mile BEFORE wildlife park on LEFT.
